Family and friends whose names appear on the inmate's visitation list (maximum of 5 names) may visit.
Up to four (4) persons (including children) may visit at one time; however, no inmate will have a total of more than 30 minutes of visitation per scheduled day. Inmates in lockdown will have 15 minutes of visitation per scheduled day. Inmates sentenced to serve less than four (4) consecutive days, or those classified as "weekenders" do not get visitation privileges.
Money Orders will not be accepted through the mail.

- You will need the inmates name, location and ID number
- Have receipt sent to your email address for your records

Can I send an inmate reading material?
Inmates may receive reading material through the mail, but the items must come directly from the publisher. This does include Amazon and newspaper distributors.
How can I deposit money to an inmates account?
There are two ways to add money to an inmates account.
- You may come to the Detention Center and in the lobby there is a kiosk in which you may add money to an inmate's account. There are directions on the kiosk, or if you are having trouble an Officer will assist you.
or
- You may deposit money online at the McDaniel web site using a debit or credit card. This may be done here.
How do I bond someone out of jail?
There are several ways to make someone's bond:
- You may pay cash for the bond in full to the Magistrate. Their office is located at the Detention Center, 1044 Driftwood Dr. Manteo, N.C. 27954 (252)475-9228.
- You may hire a bail bondsman, which may by N.C. statue, charge up to 15% of the bond amount. Many bondsman's contact information may be found in the phone book.
- You may put up N.C. real property against the bond. Contact the Dare County Clerks Office for more information, click here.
