Teen Court is an alternative system of justice. It is a restorative justice diversion program for participants to recognize the harm caused, the impact of their choices (personally, in the family and within the community) and repair the harm.

The creative and constructive sentencing in Teen Court is intended to educate, encourage skill-building, self-discipline and restore  the offender to the community.

Volunteer opportunities are available for students in grades 7 through 12. Volunteers learn valuable skills and take a leadership role in helping change the lives of their peers. Past Dare County Teen Court volunteers have been awarded the N.C. Governor's Volunteer Service Award (2014) and have been nominated for this year's award.
