May 20, 2022 U.S. Coast Guard Captain to the Port Marine Safety Information Bulletin 

 

APRIL 2022:

From Thursday, March 17, 2022, through Friday, April 1, 2022, the Merritt—a sidecaster dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—dredged the area on the west side of the Marc Basnight Bridge to reduce shoaling in Oregon Inlet.


 

2021 Oregon Inlet Dredging Updates:

DECEMBER 2021:

The Merritt—a side-caster dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers— dredged the west side of the Marc Basnight Bridge beginning November 27, 2021 through December 2, 2021. 

OCTOBER 2021:

The Merritt—a side-caster dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers— dredged the same portion of Oregon Inlet that was dredged in September. The project goal is to reduce shoaling on the west side of the Marc Basnight Bridge. Dredging of this area continued throughout the month of October.

SEPTEMBER 2021:

The Murden—a shallow-draft hopper dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers— dredged the same portion of Oregon Inlet that was dredged in August. Dredging of this area was completed September 30, 2021.

AUGUST 2021:

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, the Murden began dredging a portion of Oregon Inlet. Dredging was completed to reduce shoaling on the west side of the Marc Basnight Bridge on Monday, August 30, 2021.
