The County of Dare only accepts applications for positions that are open and currently advertised. The Dare County Sheriff’s Office is continuously accepting applications for its department.
Completing the Application
The County of Dare transitioned to an online application process through NeoGov in November 2017. By clicking on the job titles, you will be linked to the county's online application process. You will need to register on the NeoGov website the first time you apply. There is a “help/support” link if needed.
Application Review Process
The application review process begins after the closing date. Human Resources then reviews each application with care and attention to identify the candidates whose qualifications, based on the application, most closely match the position requirements.
Drug-Free Workplace Policy
- Drugs in the Workplace Prohibited
No employee engaged in work funded by a federal grant may unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use in the workplace any narcotic drug, hallucinogenic drug, amphetamine, barbiturate, marijuana or any other controlled substance. "Workplace" is defined as the site for the performance of work done in connection with a federal grant and includes any Dare County building or premises or vehicle.
- Notice of Conviction Required
As a condition of employment, each employee engaged in work funded by a federal grant shall notify his or her supervisor of his or her conviction of any criminal drug statute for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five days after such conviction.
- Penalty for Noncompliance
As a condition of employment, each employee engaged in work funded by a federal grant shall abide by the terms of this policy or may be disciplined, up to and including dismissal, or may be required to participate in a drug abuse assistance or rehabilitation program approved by Dare County.
