The Dare County Department of Health & Human Services (DCDHHS) is now providing both screening and treatment for hepatitis C, a liver disease that can often go undetected but if left untreated, can lead to serious liver problems such as advanced liver disease, liver cancer and death.
Since 2021, Dare County Department of Health & Human Services’ (DCDHHS) Smart KIDS R Safe KIDS program has been sharing important lessons with Dare County’s elementary-aged students about how to be prepared for hurricanes and other disasters as well as how to be safe in and around the water.
The Dare County Mobile Recovery Support Unit is officially operational following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 15. The unit will greatly expand the reach of the department’s Recovery and Overdose Support Services (ROSS) team in their harm reduction efforts.
