You must have courage to try something that doesn’t come easily to you. Dare County Special Olympics athletes bravely face challenges on the field, in the pool and on the court. They are the inspiration for the annual Dare County Special Olympics Polar Plunge.

The funds raised during this event will provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities, and health services to Special Olympics athletes in our community.

From bocce ball, bowling and basketball to cheerleading, track and field, and equestrian, the Dare County Special Olympics offers Outer Banks athletes ages 8 and older opportunities to develop physical fitness, enhance their athletic abilities, forge new friendships and enjoy a sense of social inclusion by helping them to connect with other athletes, coaches and volunteers in the Dare County community.

Day-of Event Volunteers Needed!

If you would like to volunteer at this event, assisting with registration, parking direction, merchandise sales or greeting the "plungers," please contact Sandy Pace at sandyf@darenc.gov or 252.475.9270.
