About Amy R. Thompson, Lead Biological Science Technician (Ocracoke District), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Coordinator, Cape Hatteras National Seashore
I’m originally from Kentucky and I've lived on the Outer Banks since 2011. While here, I’ve worked at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, Chicamacomico Life Saving Station Historic Site & Museum, and the Hatteras Island Ocean Center. Currently, I’m serving as the lead Biological Science Technician for Cape Hatteras National Seashore on Ocracoke Island, and my duties primarily focus on the wildlife management of nesting shorebirds and sea turtles. I’m an avid birder and have been ever since I took an Ornithology course in college. I love sharing my enthusiasm and passion for birding with others which is why I’m excited to be a part of this program with the Dare County Libraries.
