In the beginning, US stamps were monochromatic and mostly depicted busts and portraits of old dead white men. The first woman on a US postage stamp wasn't even an American. Telling the story of women's progress on stamps got off to a rocky start, which included demonstrations in Washington DC in the mid-1930s. Today women are featured prominently on US stamps. Stamp tell amazing stories. You as a citizen have input as to what subjects should be featured on US stamps.
The audience will also receive a brief introduction on the history of philately and commonly used philatelic terms.

Geoff is a retired NASA scientific computing and information technology security expert who has been collecting stamps for over 65 years. Marty is a retired school administrator and college professor who has been collecting stamps, especially First Day Covers, for over 35 years.
