The Wreck & Rescue of Ephraim Williams on December 22, 1884

Presented by James Charlet, Outer Banks Writer and Historian

It was the Maker of Mottos and Heroes 138 Years Ago and Became a Christmas Miracle

The wreck of the Ephraim Williams occurred at Cape Hatteras, which is why I am using this episode at the Hatteras Library. It also generated one of the most-used mottos of the Coast Guard, which, of course, has a Motor Lifeboat stationed right there! Hope the Coasties can come.

Presented by Keeper James Charlet

As an author, educator, entertainer, and an acknowledged expert in my field, I present true, dramatic stories about the rescue heroes of the United States Life-Saving Service as excerpts from my book Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks: Dramatic Rescues and Fantastic Wrecks in the Graveyard of the Atlantic.

This event takes place in the Hatteras Library Meeting Room; it will not be available virtually
