Celebrate National Aviation Day at Dare County Regional Airport on August 19, 2022!
August 19 is National Aviation Day (NAD) celebrating the development of aviation. The holiday was established in 1939 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who issued a presidential proclamation which designated the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday to be National Aviation Day. The event will take place at the Dare County Regional Airport from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature airplane displays, exhibitors and food trucks.

As part of the First Flight Society Celebration of National Aviation Day, the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will be providing warbird rides in its 1945 General Motors TBM-3E Avenger named “Doris Mae”.
