The Dare County Board of Commissioners conducts regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year. Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of the month at 9:00 AM and the third Monday of each month at 5:00 PM. Occasionally this schedule is adjusted to accommodate holidays and there are a few months each year when only one meeting is held.

Meetings are held in the Board of Commissioners meeting room adjacent to the Dare County Administration Building, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo. Entrance to the Commissioners meeting room and ample free parking is available between the Administration Building and the Dare County Justice Center.

Board of Commissioners Special Meeting

During the Special Meeting, the Board will go into closed session pursuant the provisions of NCGS 318.11(3) to consult with an attorney hired or retained by the County to preserve the attorney client privilege in the matters of Bailey v. Dare County and Dare County v. Purdue Pharma, et al (opioid lawsuit), and to take any actions as may be appropriate. The Board will also discuss and take appropriate action concerning a request for placing of Bonner Bridge demolition material on an artificial reef near Carteret County, and consider a request from the Dare County Tourism Board to approve the use of up to $25,000 from the Tourism Board's Short-Term Restricted Fund for traffic control (off-duty or overtime officers) at the US158/Ocean Boulevard intersection during the 2020 peak season summer months.
