An immersive weekend program for families, loved ones and anyone impacted by mental health conditions, substance use disorders or other unhealthy behavioral patterns has been planned to take place at the First Flight Middle School beginning at 5:30 pm on Friday, November 1, 2019. The workshop will meet Saturday and Sunday, November 2 & 3, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. These hours were selected to prevent professionals, individuals and family attendees from missing work.
The program provides family members and loved ones with the skills and tools necessary for begining their own healing process and developing their own resiliency. This program is an intensive weekend that includes group work, lectures, and presentations addressing various dynamics. Professionals who attend the weekend event will be provided 10 free professional CEUs.
Speakers for the weekend will include Stacey Surratt, nationally board certified music therapist, and Ward Blanchard, an OBX native and founder of The Blanchard Institute. Topics of discussion will include: the disease of addiction, boundaries, codependency, family systems, experiential therapy exercises and process groups.
This event has been made possible by The Blanchard Institute, Blanchard & Associates, Saving Lives Task Force, and Holland and Associates Counseling. Participants are encouraged to commit to the whole weekend to obtain maximum benefit. For unique circumstances or situations, other arrangements for missing parts of the weekend can be arranged and approved. Participants MUST RSVP to Shelley Wood at shelleyw@theblanchardinstitute.com or 704.288.1097.
