Absentee ballots to voters who have requested ballots by mail, including those who use the Visually Impaired Portal (VIP) will begin to be mailed out on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, under a new schedule released by the NC State Board of Elections..

Absentee ballots to eligible military and overseas citizens who requested them for the 2024 general election will go out on Friday, September 20, 2024, under a new schedule released by the NC State Board of Elections.

Municipal Election

  • Date: 11/05/2019 6:30 AM - 7:30 PM  

A Nonpartisan Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in the Towns of Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Nags Head and Southern Shores to elect officials.  The polls will be open for voting on November 5th from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dare County municipal elections are non-partisan plurality elections. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.

Registration: All voters registered within their Municipality are eligible to vote in these elections.  Residents of the municipality who are not registered to vote must register by Friday, October 11, 2019. A voter who has moved or made any changes since the last election must notify the Board of Elections of the change by the same date.  A person may register to vote at the Board of Elections office at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday. You may also receive a registration form at any branch of the Dare County Library or any Town Hall during regular business hours. Alternatively, you may register and, if eligible, then vote at any one-stop site in your county of residence. You must provide documentation of your residence in order to register at a one-stop site.
