Absentee ballots to voters who have requested ballots by mail, including those who use the Visually Impaired Portal (VIP) will begin to be mailed out on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, under a new schedule released by the NC State Board of Elections..

Absentee ballots to eligible military and overseas citizens who requested them for the 2024 general election will go out on Friday, September 20, 2024, under a new schedule released by the NC State Board of Elections.

Absentee Ballot Request Deadline

  • Date: 04/23/2019 5:00 PM  
Requests for an absentee ballot must be made on a State Board of Elections Absentee Request Form, available at the Dare County Board of Elections office and at all one-stop early voting sites, and received in the Dare County Board of Elections office or any one-stop early voting site by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Dare County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 (or received within three days and postmarked by Election Day).
