The fourth in a series of four Town Hall meetings is scheduled for October 24, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hatteras Civic Center . The Town Hall offers a welcoming format and is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the substance abuse issues in Dare County, become familiar with local resources currently available to help those in need, and get involved by learning how to become part of the solution.

This event features Shannon Ruiz, CEO & Founder of the PEACE Foundation as keynote speaker. The Foundation was established to honor her daughter, Kaitlyn, who passed away from an accidental overdose. Ruiz shares, “My hope is when people see Kaitlyn's face they remember that life is precious, life can be short and prescription drug abuse is deadly." Shannon works throughout the nation to education families and communities on what she has learned through her tragic loss. Shannon shares important information that all families will want to hear.
