The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing quality parks and recreation facilities, programs and leisure opportunities for the people of Dare County. We offer a variety of affordable programs and activities for individuals and families. Parks and Recreation programming is separated into three divisions to accommodate the county's unique geography: the Roanoke Island/Mainland Division, Northern Beach Division and Hatteras Island Division.

Dare to C.A.R.E. Vascular Screenings

VASCULAR SCREENING 

Dare to C.A.R.E. free vascular screenings. Cardiovascular disease is the #1 health problem in the country today. More than half of all Americans will die from complications of atherosclerosis, the root of cardiovascular disease. Early detection is key.

  • If you are age 60 or over—or if you are age 50 or over and have risk factors such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol—you are eligible for a free vascular screening. 

  • This examination is a non-invasive ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries in the neck and the aorta in the abdomen, as well as an evaluation of the circulation in your legs.

  • Screenings are done in Dare County in association with the Rotary Clubs.

  • To schedule an appointment, please call 410-573-9483 Monday to Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is not a drop-in event. 

  • Screenings are offered at several locations throughout Dare County, including the Baum Center.
